Pablo Botella, a postdoctoral researcher specialising in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs), completed his PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2023 at Hasselt University, Belgium, where he worked under the guidance of Prof. Ilse Dewachter. His doctoral research centred on the validation of blood-based biomarkers utilising Alzheimer’s disease transgenic mouse models. Prior to his doctoral studies, Pablo moved to Iceland and there held positions across pharmaceutical industry, specialised healthcare, and academic sectors. In May 2023, Pablo transitioned to the LCSB as a postdoctoral researcher within the Neuroinflammation group. His primary objective involves investigating NDDs pathology in in vivo models using two- and three-photon microscopy in a longitudinal manner. Beyond his dedication to biomedical research, Pablo enjoys activities such as CrossFit, hiking, reading Sci-fi literature, and coding.
