Our laboratory accepts one master’s student per semester for either a research stay (2-3 months) or a thesis project (6-9 months). The specific project topics vary, but broadly are focused on identifying and validating the molecular factors initiating and exacerbating the development of complex metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes. The laboratory work is normally a ~70% mixture of computational biology (e.g. using R as well as specialised software tools) and ~30% bench top molecular biology (e.g. extraction and analysis of nucleotides, proteins, and metabolites from complex tissue samples). The core technologies commonly used in the projects are high-throughput sequencing and mass spectrometry.
Please inquire at least 4 months in advance for either a research stay or thesis project.
