Maria Lourenço is a doctoral researcher at the Luxembourg Centre for European Law, under the supervision of Professor Joana Mendes.
Research
Her research focuses on EU Competition Law and on how current challenges may change the way in which the role and scope of the discipline, as well as institutional limits, are perceived.

Work experience
Before joining the Luxembourg Centre for European Law, Maria Lourenço was a research assistant at the NOVA Centre for Business, Human Rights and the Environment (2022-2024) and a research affiliate at the NOVA Centre for the Study of Gender, Family, and the Law (2023-2025).
Educational background
Maria Lourenço completed her bachelor’s degree in law (summa cum laude) at the NOVA School of Law, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in 2024. In 2025, she completed the LL.M. in European Law at the College of Europe in Bruges (mention très bien).
