Marco BUZZONI

Current position

Marco Buzzoni is a Doctoral Researcher at the Luxembourg Centre of European Law at the University of Luxembourg and a PhD Candidate at the Sorbonne Law School (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) under the supervision of Prof Pascal de Vareilles-Sommières.

Research

His research focuses on the impact of globalisation on cross-border dispute resolution. His thesis examines the interplay among European, public, and private international law sources in the enforcement of judgments. Since 2021, Mr. Buzzoni has also served as an expert in several EU-funded research and training projects on cross-border judicial cooperation.

Awards/Distinctions

In 2021, he was one of twenty-four young researchers selected to participate in the annual edition of The Hague Academy Centre for Studies and Research on the topic “Applicable Law Issues in International Arbitration.”

Work experience

From 2021 to 2023, he coordinated the Max Planck Luxembourg research team for the EFFORTS Project, an international research initiative funded by the European Commission aimed at improving the cross-border enforcement of claims among Member States. Since 2020, he has also been a Lecturer in Cross-Border Litigation, Arbitration, and ADR at the Universities of Poitiers and Versailles, and has participated as an expert in several training events organized by the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) and the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA).

Educational background

Marco holds a double Master’s Degree in Italian and French Law from the University of Florence and the Sorbonne Law School, and an LL.M. in International Business Transactions, Litigation, and Arbitration from NYU School of Law.
