The half-day conference will kick off with a keynote speech addressing one of the most debated topics in International Investment Law – Investor-State Dispute-Settlement reform. As more than a decade has elapsed since the calls for reform of the system first emerged, Meg Kinnear will take stock of the reform efforts and outcomes to date, assessing whether too much or too little has been done and whether we are on the right track.
Following the keynote, a panel discussion will delve into the critical requirement of control and ownership of foreign investors in investment arbitration. In a roundtable format, panellists will share their insights on a wide range of relevant issues, including investors’ nationality, shareholders’ claims, seat and decision-making of juridical persons, denial of benefits, corporate restructuring, and abuse of right/process.
