Prof. Iryna Izarova (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv/ University for Continuing Education Krems)

Iryna Izarova is a Professor at the Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, holding a Doctor of Science in Law. She is also a researcher at the University for Continuing Education Krems in Austria. Prof. Izarova is an ELI Fellow, a Member of the MCC of the Project ‘From Transnational Principles to European Rules of Civil Procedure,’ and a member of several associations, including the IAPL, ELI, EAPIL, and EASE. She serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Access to Justice in Eastern Europe Journal (indexed in Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection, Q2). Additionally, Prof. Izarova has held the position of Chair of the Ukrainian Regional Chapter of EASE since 2021 and vice head of the University center for academic publishing. 

Prof. Izarova has participated in numerous international and bilateral R&D projects. In 2022–2023, Prof. Izarova managed the research project titled “Innovative Technologies for Processing Court Decisions Using Machine Learning Algorithms” (2023, K-I-186), financed by the European Union’s External Assistance Instrument to fulfill Ukraine’s obligations under the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation “Horizon 2020.” The main aim of the project is to develop and implement novel methods and tools for processing large volumes of court decisions using advanced machine learning algorithms. Currently, she is working on methodologies for creating structured datasets from non-machine-readable court decisions and leveraging AI to improve the transparency and efficiency of judicial processes in Ukraine, collaborating with a network of partners from European universities.
