The Game On festival, which took place on 4-5 November 2023 in Rotondes, brought together game enthusiasts from all over Luxembourg and beyond, and of all ages.

The Game On festival brings together game enthusiasts from all over Luxembourg and beyond, and of all ages. Two professors from the Department of Mathematics, Hugo Parlier and Bruno Teheux, were invited guests at this year’s festival, showcasing some of their mathematical games, by now featured around the world at different events such as the Expo in Dubai.

Bruno and Hugo were thrilled: “We use games to let players experience mathematics in a different light, and we usually present them in science related environments. So, when we got the invitation to go to a game festival, we were curious to see how a different crowd would react.”  The stand was jam-packed throughout the two days.

Yves Conrardy, socio-cultural programme director of Rotondes, was behind the invitation: “We have been following Bruno’s and Hugo’s work in the field of game design based on mathematics for quite some time. We were more than happy when they joined us for this year’s edition of Game On to present their work to our public who obviously enjoyed it, since there was always a big crowd at the stand.”.

Don’t worry if you missed it, they’ll probably be invited again in the near future.
