The young logistics professionals (YLP) networking series is an initiative of the Cluster for Logistics Luxembourg in collaboration with the Luxembourg Maritime Cluster and the Luxembourg Center for Logistics and Supply Chain Management where young logistics professionals can exchange ideas with experts from the industry on various topics. The aim of the initiative is to bring together young logistics professionals from both the professional and the academic world and get the conversation going.

The networking series has addressed three hot topics in logistics since its launch in late 2020:

  • E-commerce with Luis Gragnani from Amazon Luxembourg (November 2020)
  • Space, Satellites and Logistics with LuxSpace Sarl’s Head of applications and services, Gerd Eiden (February 2021)
  • Digital procurement with Shipsta’s CEO Christian Wilhelm (April 2021)

Students from the Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM) Master as well as doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers and professors participated in the well-attended online events.

Carla Rosen-Vacher, Outreach Communication Officer for the LCL is convinced that interaction between students and young industry professionals is beneficial: “The Young Logistics Professionals (YLP) networking series was conceived collaboratively by the LCL and our two closely-aligned trade association partners, the Cluster for Logistics (C4L) and the Luxembourg Maritime Cluster. Beyond the LCL’s mission to educate and prepare our Master students toward their professional integration in our specialised areas of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (as a priority in Luxembourg), the LCL strives to support maximum student interaction with active industry representatives – and what better networking opportunities than with their peer age group, 35 years and under?”

LSCM students also appreciated the opportunity to interact with professionals from the industry: “The YLP networking series is a great platform to raise your profile with excellent source of knowledge. It helped me in exchanging information with experienced people in supply chain domain and allowed me to gain new insights that I may have not thought of otherwise,” says Bhagyashree Sawant. “Attending the first edition YLP Networking Series was a great experience. I had the opportunity to interact directly with the experts in logistics industry, adds Neeraj Pondichetty.

The LCL is looking forward to co-organising and participating future YLP networking events, online and in-person, “We are proud of the success of the YLP launch year with three events in this academic year 2020-2021 and are already planning an expanded program for next year’s Master cohort,” says Rosen-Vacher. The next event is planned for November 2021.
