The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) is delighted to announce that the Luis y Antonio Portabella Foundation will be offering a grant to support 20 students of the University of Luxembourg.
The purpose of these grants is to help students pursue their university studies and complete their degree programmes under optimal conditions. Eligible students must be enrolled at the University, either in an Academic or Professional Bachelor’s degree or in a Master’s programme (both from the second semester onwards).
These grants are specifically intended for deserving students facing social and financial difficulties. They are designed to help cover accommodation costs in a university residence and/or general living expenses. In addition to university residences, accommodation provided by the City of Esch, Rümelange, Differdange, LISEL, or via the weconnect.lu platform is also accepted. The grant may be allocated to cover accommodation expenses, living costs, or both.
If you are experiencing financial hardship and believe you meet the eligibility criteria, you are invited to apply by sending the documents to fdef.bourseportabella@uni.lu by Sunday, 7 December 2025, at the latest. Your application must include the following documents:
- Proof of accommodation in a university residence (or accommodation provided by the City of Esch, Rümelange, Differdange, LISEL, or the platform weconnect.lu)
- A transcript of grades (for Bachelor’s students from their second semester onwards, and for all Master’s students; this may be from the University of Luxembourg or the institution where you completed your first semester or first degree)
- A signed letter of recommendation from your professor or study director
- A brief statement (maximum one page) outlining your financial and social situation
- A CV (including your student ID)
- An indication of how many semesters remain before the completion of your Master’s or Bachelor’s degree
All applications will be carefully reviewed, and you will receive a response as soon as possible. Applications will be treated in strict confidence, in accordance with data protection regulations, and you will receive a response by mid-January. The information provided will be used solely for the selection process.
Please note that the email address above is intended solely for FDEF students.
