On 9 March 2023, the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LCL) within the University of Luxembourg, will host a Roundtable on Construction Supply Chain and Logistics.
Construction is an important sector of the economy, contributing 6% to the local GDP while employing about 50,000 direct jobs. Improvements to this sector can have far-reaching consequences. In this roundtable we will explore the highly fragmented supply chains of this sector which are characterised as convergent and temporary while following a make-to-order process. These aspects result in challenging logistical arrangements.
How can these challenges be addressed? A project carried out by LIST will share insights into the management of flows of construction goods within cities. A different approach to last-mile logistics will be shared by Félix Giorgetti following a successful pilot which involved pre-packaging of materials, making them available on site and ready for disposal in the morning.
