On Wednesday, 9 March 2022, the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management will host the MIT SCALE-wide event with the directors of all 5 MIT SCALE centres.
The directors of all five MIT SCALE centres worldwide will share their own experiences and join a panel discussion on the topic: The Covid pandemic and global supply chains: lessons from the MIT SCALE network.
The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, in all its variants, has rattled global supply chains for more than 2 years now with shockwave disruptions up and down and sideways along the chains in a phenomenon known as the Bullwhip Effect. The mounting challenges range from shortages of essential parts and components to sky-rocketing freight rates and wholesale and consumer price levels, to lengthy delays at ports and inventory out-of-stocks.
Is it time to upend the textbook prescriptions? In this MIT SCALE-wide panel, the directors of the five network centres worldwide will discuss their views and experiences on the evolution of global supply chains, while addressing questions such as: Is it time to shore-up and shorten supply chains? Are global supply chains decoupling? Is this the end of lean and start of just-in-case?
