In the framework of the SESaMe Jean Monnet Chair on a Sustainable European Social ModelProf. Dr. Luca RATTI cordially invites you to join us at the University of Luxembourg for two upcoming Jean Monnet lectures.

Abstract:

The European Green Deal promises to ‘leave no-one behind’, acknowledging that the climate change mitigation policies it introduces will have significant social and economic effects that will impact some groups disproportionately, particularly those in vulnerable situations. The industrial transformation underway will thus affect a range of social rights guaranteed in European and international instruments, but it also offers opportunities for progressive social policies that further these rights. Against this background, this lecture will reflect on the role that social rights guarantees can play in ensuring a socially just transition to net-zero. It will explore the extent to which these currently feature in the EU climate agenda, and consider how social rights standards could be better integrated into the EU just transition framework.
