FDEF Congratulate Georges Ravarani, elected as ECHR Vice-President

Judge Georges Ravarani, who has been a Judge of the European Court of Human Rights since 1 November 2015 and President of Section since 13 September 2021, was elected to the office of Vice-President of the Court on 19 September 2022. He will take up his duties on 1 November 2022.

Judge Ravarani is an alumnus of the University of Luxembourg’s Doctoral School of Law and has been successively Guest Professor and Honorary Professor. He maintains a strong connection with the Department of Law, notably as a member of thesis defence juries and as guide to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg for our second-year Master in Law students. Judge Ravarani is also a regular speaker at academic conferences organised by the by the Department of Law.   

The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance warmly congratulate Judge Ravarani on this professional accomplishment, and we thank him for his continued dedication to the Faculty’s law programme.
