This year Media Law Professor Mark D. Cole from the University of Luxembourg was selected to give the annual Charles Clark Memorial Lecture, which is the closing event at the London Book Fair. Previous speakers at this event commemorating one of the most influential copyright lawyers of the UK included EU Commissioners, WIPO Director General and leading intellectual property law professors from the US, Australia and the UK.

On 7 April Prof. Cole spoke about “The Answer to Platform Regulation is in the Regulation of Platforms” and gave the audience insights into the EU’s efforts in regulating online platforms, what future legislation may look like and how this regulation impacting intellectual property law has developed from the EU’s e-Commerce Directive and Information Society Directive to the Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act.
