The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) and the National Centre of Excellence in Research and Innovation (NCER FutureFinTech) is pleased to invite you, as part of the AI Lecture Series, to this lecture.
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly evolved into powerful generative models capable of producing text, code, images, decisions, and insights at unprecedented scale. Today, the widespread adoption of Generative AI (GenAI) is reshaping intelligent systems across critical sectors, with the legal and financial domains at the forefront. As organizations embed GenAI into their workflows, these technologies add a new layer of technical complexity, amplifying challenges related to regulatory compliance, transparency, and risk management. This ongoing transformation underscores the need for a deeper, more nuanced understanding of AI.
This talk offers a clear and accessible overview of AI technologies, tracing their evolution from traditional machine learning to the emergence of GenAI and large language models (LLMs). It will highlight the opportunities these technologies enable, while also examining their limitations and the risks they pose—particularly in contexts where accountability, trust, and compliance are essential.
