We congratulate Professor Christos Koulovatianos on being recognised as an Outstanding Mentor at the 2025 FNR Awards, held on 23 October 2025 in Luxembourg.

Prof. Koulovatianos, who leads the Department of Finance, focuses his research on household finance and financial stability. He was nominated by his team, including doctoral students and junior professors, who cite his passion for research and his ability to explain complex ideas clearly. Prof. Koulovatianos is also celebrated for his caring attitude towards others, evidenced by his willingness to share advice and always lend a helping hand.

However, Prof. Koulovatianos acknowledges that being a mentor to others has also led to his own personal growth. “Mentoring has helped me too,” he says. “The unique and original approaches of students to problems have made me rethink my own work and spot flows I hadn’t noticed.”
