Dimitrios Nikolaos Benekos is a PhD researcher in Economics in the Department of Economics and Management. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Uppsala University (Sweden) and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Ioannina (Greece).
His research studies the role of historical forces in migration and demographic processes, with a particular focus on the causes and consequences of economic insecurity. He examines how persistent institutional and cultural dynamics shape political attitudes, socioeconomic outcomes, and collective responses across generations during periods of economic uncertainty.
