The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is happy to announce the nomination of Prof. Dirk A. Zetzsche as Head of its Department of Law. Prof. Zetzsche replaces Prof. Herwig Hofmann who has held the position since 2019.
Prof. Zetzsche is a full professor and holds the ADA Chair in Financial Law (Inclusive Finance) at the University of Luxembourg. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Düsseldorf, an LL.M. from the University of Toronto and a habilitation from the University of Düsseldorf. His main research interests lie in inclusive and sustainable finance, Financial Technologies (FinTech) and Regulatory Technologies (RegTech), investment funds, corporate governance and cross-border financial services. By several metrics, Prof. Zetzsche is ranked among the top 10 law scholars globally in his field.
Prof. Zetzsche is also a member of several expert groups including the Consultative Working Group (CWG) on Investment Management by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the Financial Access Survey Advisory Group of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Crypto-Assets Task Force which advises the European Systemic Risk Board, hosted by the European Central Bank.
