Research Group Groupe de réflexion en droit privé luxembourgeois (GRDPL)

Outreach

The GRDPL aims to contribute to a better understanding of, and necessary reforms to, important but neglected parts of Luxembourg private law.

Since the start of the 2019 academic year, in addition to its regular events and publications, it has decided to focus first on the subject of prescription and then to develop the topic of contracts. After the lecture series, the aim is to map out the various possible directions for future reforms.

Co-organized by the Assises du Code civil, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, these conferences aim to launch a discussion on the modernization of the Luxembourg Civil Code, and are open to all professionals in the legal world and anyone interested.

Les Assises du Code civil are organized by the Ministry of Justice in conjunction with the Groupe de réflexion en droit privé luxembourgeois (GRDPL). Their aim is to launch a discussion with the legal community on the modernization of the Luxembourg Civil Code.

The session on methodology will discuss the process and methods of modernizing the Civil Code. The debate will focus on the method to be adopted to carry out future reforms, as well as on the criteria for determining the order of priorities for reforms, and on the consideration of foreign legislation. The analysis will also include the roles to be assigned to Luxembourg and foreign political institutions, practitioners and academics in this reform process.
