Michael received his MSc degree in Mobile and Satellite Communications from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom in 2013. At Surrey, he conducted industry-based research with Inmarsat Plc, where he designed a high capacity PHY layer architecture as an optimization strategy for the BGAN Satellites. He has several years of industry experience having worked with telecoms vendors including Huawei and Nokia; a Mobile Network Operator – MTN in Nigeria as a Senior RF Planning, Optimization and Operations Engineer on 3G and 4G technologies. At MTN, he participated in the first 5G NR integration and trial in West Africa using Ericsson and ZTE equipment. Whilst in SnT, he emerged EMEA Region Second Place Winner, at the 2021 IEEE COMSOC Internet for All Competition.
His research interests are in integrated satellite and terrestrial communications, Radio Resource Management, Digital Signal Processing and Software Defined Networks. Michael joins the Signal Processing & Satellite Communications research group (SIGCOM), headed by Prof. Björn Ottersten and Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas, he will be advised by Prof. Bhavani Shankar.
