Symeon Chatzinotas (MEng, MSc, PhD, FIEEE) is currently a Full Professor/Chief Scientist I and head of the research group SIGCOM, in the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust, University of Luxembourg.u003cbru003eu003cbru003eIn parallel, he is an adjunct professor in the Department of Electronic Systems, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and a collaborating scholar of the Institute of Informatics u0026amp; Telecommunications, National Center for Scientific Research u0022Demokritosu0022.

SIGCOM confucts research aimed at designing, emulating and testing new, high-performance systems for the future of mobile and satellite communications. Fields of applications range from 5G/6G telecommunications to satellite-based internet connectivity and quantum communications.u003cbru003eu003cbru003eIn collaboration with the SIGCOM group, Symeon Chatzinotas has attracted research funding in the order of €40m through more than 50 projects. SIGCOM has trained about 100 post-doctoral and 50 doctoral researchers to date. The research group currently counts around 100 active members.

Symeon Chatzinotas leads the long-term strategic partnership with SES, as well as industrial projects with Deutsche Telecom Labs, Nokia Bell Labs, and Huawei. In parallel, he has led strategic projects on 5G/6G and quantum communication techologies in collaboration with the Ministry of Digitalisation and the national spectrum regulator ILR.

Prof. Chatzinotas has authored more than u003ca href=u0022https://sites.google.com/view/symeonchatzinotas/publications/papersu0022 target=u0022_blanku0022 rel=u0022noreferrer noopeneru0022u003e800 technical papersu003c/au003e in refereed international journals, conferences and scientific books, and has received numerous u003ca href=u0022https://sites.google.com/view/symeonchatzinotas/home/awardsu0022 target=u0022_blanku0022 rel=u0022noreferrer noopeneru0022u003eawardsu003c/au003e and recognitions, including the IEEE Fellowship and an IEEE Distinguished Contributions Award. He is currently in the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Open Journal of Vehicular Technology and the International Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking.

In the past, he has lecturered as a visiting professor at the University of Parma, Italy, and contributed in numerous Ru0026amp;D projects for the Institute of Telematics and Informatics, Center of Research and Technology Hellas, and Mobile Communications Research Group, Center of Communication Systems Research, University of Surrey.

Symeon Chatzinotas received his M.Eng. degree in telecommunications from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece in 2003, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the University of Surrey, Surrey, UK, in 2006 and 2009, respectively.
