Scripting Genocide : Book Launch with author Nicholas K. Johnson

The third volume of the C²DH’s book series “Public History in European Perspectives” (with De Gruyter Publishing), Scripting Genocide (by Nicholas K. Johnson) traces the history of how and why the Wannsee Conference has repeatedly attracted the attention of American, British, and German artists, writers, and filmmakers since 1960. This talk, focusing on two of the book’s central examples, the television films The Wannsee Conference (1984) and Conspiracy (2001) explores the book’s origins, sources, and argues that these television films are responsible examples of public history on television. The book is in full open access and you can access it here.
