Based on a research conducted at a disused prison (1903-2010, Rennes), which combines history, mediation and participation, the aim will be to define a singular research space at the intersection of two developing research fields: public history and scientific mediation. What scientific and ethical framework, what necessary shifts in objects and methodologies, what reflective posture are needed to conduct research with rather than on?
