About

The project examines the history of the Luxembourgish Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (ITM) from the founding of the Administration des mines in 1869 to the organisation’s 150th anniversary in 2019. The research concentrates on the evolution of working conditions, occupational health and safety standards, and the incidence of workplace accidents in Luxembourg. A key aim of the project is the creation of a comprehensive database documenting fatal work-related accidents that occurred in the Grand Duchy between 1869 and 2019. Additionally, the project involves developing a website that explores the intertwined histories of the National Miners’ Monument and the Léiffrächen in Kayl.
