Dr. Myriam PIGUET

Postdoctoral Researcher at the C²DH.

Myriam works at the border of the history of international relations and social history. Her current interests are international organizations from below, favoring a socio-historic perspective, with a focus on the League of Nations, the United Nations, and European Organizations. 

• PhD thesis (2018-2024): Gender Before Mainstreaming: The Integration of Women to International Civil Service in the Secretariats of the League of Nations and the United Nations, circa 1920-1975
• Postdoctoral project (2024-present): From the Bottom to the Top: The Rungis Marketplace and the Establishment of the European Common Market

In 2021, she was Fulbright Doctoral Student at Rutgers University (USA). In 2022, she completed a research stay at the European University Institute funded by a doc.mobility grant from the University of Geneva. In 2024, her doctoral thesis was awarded the Lombard Odier Prize by the Swiss Forum for International Affairs.  

She previously worked as a journalist in Le Monde (2016-2017), and at the Mainichi Newspaper where she assisted the correspondent for the EU (2017-2018). Between 2018 and 2024, she worked as PhD researcher and teaching assistant the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva.

Dr. Myriam Piguet obtained her Bachelor in History from the University of Brussels (Belgium) and a Master in International and Global History from Aarhus University (Denmark). She holds a PhD in History from the University of Geneva (Switzerland).
