Participating in OHVD
Participants will complete a range of assessments, including:
- Vestibular Testing:
- Dix-Hallpike Maneuver: To detect posterior or anterior Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV).
- Supine Head Roll Test: To identify lateral BPPV.
- Cardiovascular Monitoring:
- Continuous monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, and body position using the SOMNOtouch device during vestibular maneuvers and positional changes.
- Schellong Test:
- Manual blood pressure and heart rate measurements during a supine-to-standing test to clinically assess orthostatic hypotension.
- Post-Treatment Testing (for BPPV participants):
- Repeat vestibular testing after treatment to evaluate changes and compare pre- and post-treatment outcomes.
Study phases
Participation involves two phases:
Phase 1: Baseline Assessment
- Conducted during the initial visit at the Vertigo Clinic at the Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM), this phase includes:
- Signing the informed consent form.
- Completing vestibular testing
- Using the SOMNOtouch device for continuous monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, and body position.
- Undergoing the Schellong test with manual measurements for clinical assessment of orthostatic hypotension.
Phase 2: Post-Treatment Assessment (for BPPV Participants)
- This phase involves a follow-up visit after vestibular treatment. It includes:
- Repeat vestibular testing to evaluate changes in symptoms and cardiovascular parameters.
- Comparing pre- and post-treatment outcomes to determine the effectiveness of the intervention.
