High-profile students have been recruited for the second cohort of the Master in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, with backgrounds in international business and economics, procurement management, international logistics, mathematics and engineering.
Their average work experience is seven years in firms and institutions such as Amazon, L’Oréal, United Nations Environment Programme, Nestlé, ArcelorMittal, GDF Suez, Engie, Sagemcom Broadband, Genpact, Maersk, KPMG.
The Master programme has been created in cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Transportation and Logistics (MIT CTL).
The one-year Master in Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme is open to students from a variety of professional backgrounds, looking to specialise in logistics and supply chain management. Selected candidates join the international and multilingual student body of the University of Luxembourg.
As part of the programme, students:
- spend three weeks at the MIT in Boston. They take classes together with students from across the Global SCALE Network’s centres;
- write a Master thesis, based on a research project carried out in cooperation with a partner company.
This enables students to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the chosen topic while gaining experience via an application to a real-world setting.
In the past academic year, the students could work on the following research topics:
- Commodity price predictions using big data
- Customer balancing acts in transportation networks
- Predictive analytics for procurement
- Improving transparency for European inbound supply chain
- Creating a single point of truth for consistent business planning
- The digital supply chain
- Sustainability and carbon tracking model for archiving industry
Student recruitment for the 2019-20 academic year opens in October.
