The LSF co-organised the 3rd European Banking Center (EBC) Network Workshop, hosted on 11 and 12 June 2018 at the University of Tilburg, exchanging with colleagues from within the network and gaining valuable new insights into the latest research in the field.
The EBC is a joint research network between the universities of Lancaster, Luxembourg, and Tilburg. It is a home for banking researchers located in Europe and promotes excellence in research, combining academic rigour with policy relevance. The members of the EBC Network complement each other well, with diverse interests in banking research. The EBC Network aims to foster internal collaboration and feedback, with the cross-fertilization within the network providing a unique platform for high-quality research. Additionally, the EBC Network is actively involved in external activities, such as the organisation of workshops and conferences.
The purpose of the annual workshop is to bring together researchers from the EBC Network working on topics related to banking, financial intermediation and corporate finance. It provides a forum where they can informally discuss work and present early-stage research as well as more mature work. Several professors, post-doctoral and doctoral researchers from the Luxembourg School of Finance actively participated in this year’s workshop by presenting their own research or discussing the work of their colleagues from the other institutions.
The academic programme covered topics such as “the procyclicality of banking in the eurozone”, “bank information sharing and liquidity risk” and “banks as patient lenders: evidence from a tax reform”. In March 2019, the LSF will become responsible to organize the annual international conference of the EBC network in Luxembourg.
