The LSF has hosted 22 seminars since the start of the academic year last September, bringing eminent and up-and-coming researchers from around the world to Luxembourg.
The seminar series receives funding from the National Research Fund (FNR) under the RESCOM scheme and has attracted scholars from leading universities in the world, including the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Berkeley, London Business School, and more. Researchers presented on numerous topics, such as asset management, banking, household finance, real estate and financial econometrics.
Among the highlights of the 2017-2018 seminar series, Christine Parlour (UC Berkeley) gave an eye-opening talk on payment systems and the effect of various technological changes on the payment and banking systems.
Several scholars took the opportunity to visit the Luxembourg School of Finance for a few days and teach graduate level classes, including Michael Weber (Chicago) and Johannes Stroebel (NYU). Our seminar series attracted attendees from many institutions such as numerous banks and other financial companies, the European Investment Bank, the Central Bank of Luxembourg, other research institutes, and from other departments of the University of Luxembourg.
We look forward to welcoming speakers and participants to the 2018-2019 seminar series, which promises to be equally exciting with, once again, speakers from all over the globe including Stijn Van Nieuwerburgh (Columbia), Antoinette Schoar (MIT), Lukas Schmid (Duke), and Gustavo Manso (Berkeley).
