    Excellent Doctoral Thesis Awards 2020 in science

    The Doctoral School of Science and Engineering (DSSE) at the University of Luxembourg has recently awarded nine doctoral candidates for their outstanding doctoral thesis. The research topics included masonry walls, IT security, geometry, large scale modeling, causes of Parkinson’s disease, light-matter interaction, laser welding, system protocols and voting procedures.

    Mathematical didactics: learning how to become a math teacher

    Within the framework of the Master in Secondary Education in Mathematics at the University of Luxembourg, students can choose to do a thesis in mathematical didactics. Recently, three graduates who are now secondary school teachers in Luxembourg have published their work in didactical journals and magazines for teachers.

    Modifying molecular interactions by squeezing molecules

    In a paper published in Nature Communications on 08 January 2021, the Theoretical Chemical Physics group, from the Department of Physics and Materials Science (DPhyMS) at the University of Luxembourg, developed a practically applicable method that is able to accurately describe interactions between molecules in an arbitrary confining environment or ”squeezed molecules”.
