On 24-25 June 2021, the MASSENA Young Scientist Conference organised by the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) gathered almost 70 young researchers working in the field of physics and materials science.
The event was introduced by Susanne Siebentritt, Head of the Laboratory for Photovoltaics at the University of Luxembourg and Emmanuel Defay, Head of Unit Nanotechnology at LIST who welcomed the participants and congratulated young scientists for their great achievements.
Then, the conference was divided into four session to tackle the different challenges in the field of energy materials, namely electronics sensors and energy harvesters; strain sensors and energy harvesters; bio-sensing and electronics structure theory.
Distinguished speakers from Denmark Technical University, Imperial College London, Spanish National Research Council, STMicroelectronics and University of Saarland shared their knowledge and experience with the audience.
Doctoral students had also the opportunity to present their work during short talks and poster sessions. Participants really enjoyed the possibility to exchange, learn from each other’s and consider potential collaborations.
About MASSENA
Launched in 2016 by the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Materials for Sensing and Energy Harvesting (MASSENA) is a doctoral programme funded in the framework of PRIDE scheme by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR). The objectives of the research programme are to improve the understanding and the performance of materials used in sensing and energy harvesting. 16 doctoral students are currently involved in this programme.
