On the occasion of the International Women’s Day 2020, second semester students from the Bachelor in Applied Information Technology (BINFO) were given a presentation about pioneering women in Computer Science.

Doctoral researcher Saharnaz Dilmaghani from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) and Postdoctoral researcher Christian Grévisse from the Department of Computer Science (DCS) at the University of Luxembourg showcased the achievements of important female computer scientists, from Ada Lovelace over Grace Hopper to the more recent Katie Bouman.

Furthermore, Saharnaz shared her experience as a young woman in this field, from her undergraduate studies up to her ongoing PhD research, and motivated the women in the BINFO programme to become the next generation of pioneers. There are currently 15 women enrolled in the second semester of the BINFO.
