    Excellent Doctoral Thesis Awards 2020 in science

    The Doctoral School of Science and Engineering (DSSE) at the University of Luxembourg has recently awarded nine doctoral candidates for their outstanding doctoral thesis. The research topics included masonry walls, IT security, geometry, large scale modeling, causes of Parkinson’s disease, light-matter interaction, laser welding, system protocols and voting procedures.

    Modifying molecular interactions by squeezing molecules

    In a paper published in Nature Communications on 08 January 2021, the Theoretical Chemical Physics group, from the Department of Physics and Materials Science (DPhyMS) at the University of Luxembourg, developed a practically applicable method that is able to accurately describe interactions between molecules in an arbitrary confining environment or ”squeezed molecules”.

    Mathematicians from the Universities of Luxembourg, Aarhus and Tokyo have recently published their findings in the renowned journal Annals of Applied Probability.
