“Don’t find fault. Find a remedy”, a famous quote from Henry Ford describes very well the basic idea behind the INTERREG A- Greater Region project PRODPILOT.

The University of Luxembourg is a key partner in this project among five other partners in the Greater Region. PRODPILOT gives Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs) an opportunity to assess their productivity and provides input for innovative ways of improving competitiveness using both lean methods as well as industry 4.0 technologies.

To promote competitiveness in SMEs, the project consortium introduced “PRODPILOT Grand Prix”, an award for innovative projects focusing on overall productivity improvement in the companies.

At an event held in Zweibrücken on 28 November 2019, in the presence of project consortium of PRODPILOT and stakeholders, the Luxembourg company Ferro-Tech has won the first ever “PRODPILOT Grand Prix”.

The company provides maintenance services to the railway industry, like CFL and SNCF. The award recognised the Ferro-Tech’s efforts in terms of digitalizing their maintenance process by seamless vertical integration in company’s hierarchical systems. Through digitalization, the company has reduced its maintenance costs from €4.4 million in 2016 to €3.95 million in 2018.

The University of Luxembourg managed the coordination of the award along with Luxinnovation as a jury and the Ministère de l’Economie as a methodological partner.
