An international study, in which the University of Luxembourg is taking part, is launching an online survey to better understand the impacts of the health crisis on sexual health, intimate violence and access to essential reproductive health products and services.

The impacts of the coronavirus pandemic are varied and affect many sectors in the health sector. Among these is the sexual and reproductive health of the population in countries affected by the coronavirus. To better understand these impacts, the University of Luxembourg together with other partners, is launching an online survey. Called, I-SHARE (International Sexual Health and ReproductivE), the project is a collaborative initiative between researchers at the Academic Network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Policy (ANSER) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), along with the partner organisations carrying out the sexual and reproductive health studies in their home countries. 33 countries across the globe are currently participating in the project, with more partner institutions joining every day.

This series of studies aims to investigate how different isolation measures implemented by governments across the world have affected family structures, relationships, and access to sexual and reproductive health services, including contraceptives and abortion services. The survey also aims to determine the impact of COVID-19 social restriction measures on mental health, harmful cultural practices and on HIV/STI testing.

The University of Luxembourg will carry out the I-SHARE Project in Luxembourg from the 15th of January to the 12th of February. To take part in this study, you have to live in Luxembourg and be over 18 years old.
