The office of the International Society for Research and Promotion of Wind Music (IGEB) has been transferred from the University of Arts in Graz (Austria) to the University of Luxembourg.

The society was founded by Wolfgang Suppan of the Institute of Ethnomusicology at the Graz University in 1974. Suppan served as president of the society until his retirement in 2000; he was followed by his former doctoral student Bernhard Habla.

Damien Sagrillo from the University of Luxembourg was elected president following Habla’s tragic and untimely death in 2016.

The society has members worldwide with a focus on German-speaking countries, North America and the Iberian Peninsula. IGEB organises biennial conferences, publishes conference proceedings, a series of monographs and recognises outstanding dissertations in the fields of wind music research in musicology, ethnomusicology, music history, organology, music pedagogy, psychology and sociology. While the place of residence of the society will stay in Graz, the office will move to the University of Luxembourg and Ulrike Maser will be in charge of it.

The next conference will be held in Valencia (Spain) in collaboration with the Valencian Wind Band Federation (FSMCV), the Joaquín Rodrigo Conservatoire of Valencia, the University of Valencia and the Societat Musical Santa Cecilia d’Alcàsser. Deadlines for CfP and CfN are February 15, 2020. Accepted papers will be notified by April 30, 2020. (https://www.igeb.net/igeb-2020.html)
