Digital Transformation transforms the financial sector as well as everyday life, economy and society by the employment of digital technologies and techniques as well as by their aftermath. Alterations may include, e.g., changing customer behavior, break-up of existing business models and asymmetric competition.

While the impact of digital technologies on the value creation model are well-known since more than two decades, strong and cross-sectional impacts on the value proposition model are widely discussed today and result in new products, completely new types of products and business models. However, there is a third dimension in the customer interaction model which is not limited to the actual discussions on platform economy and might show even stronger impact on the economy, especially in the financial sector. The talk combines research on user behavior with value network analysis and considerations on strategic shifts of market power.

Key Pousttchi is the SAP Professor for Informaton Systems and Digitalization at the University of Potsdam.
