The Chair of the City of Esch invites you to the opening of CULTURES OF ASSEMBLY, our open neighbourhood agency and community space located at Rue du Brill 24, Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg.

CULTURES OF ASSEMBLY is a project by the Chair of the City of Esch at the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning, University of Luxembourg. We are urban researchers who mobilise the collective imagination. We engage in discussions with the inhabitants of Esch and beyond to think together about a fairer future open to political, economic, cultural, and environmental diversity. Our physical space and its online platform help us to critically interrogate realities around civic space and community care.

The opening will start at 19.00 on 15 March with two trigger talks by our guests, design critic and curator Vera Sacchetti and architect Jesko Fezer, followed by a public debate.

We will discuss the role and value of low threshold design discourses, the production and use of urban space, para-institutional approaches to (urban) design, models of embedded and immersive learning, as well as spaces for experimentation in cities that build on native knowledge. We are aiming to establish seeds towards new community initiatives and innovative governance models.

The discussion will be followed by drinks and a DJ set by A.Certo.

We are very much looking forward to your attendance.
