Stimulating interdisciplinary research at the University through its Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS)

Global challenges such as digitalisation, diminishing natural resources, climate change, environmental issues, health, economic growth or social inclusion, are so multifaceted and intricate that they strongly benefit from interdisciplinary approaches. Even though the University already hosts many promising interdisciplinary initiatives, such initiatives remain too sporadic to have essential impacts on the University itself and to benefit society. Within this context and reflecting the University’s ambition to enable and foster interdisciplinary research, the University established in 2019 its Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) to tackle both fundamental scientific problems and global challenges. I will illustrate the rationale behind the IAS, its main Missions, and its first steps in the ambition to become a symbol for University of Luxembourg’s values of excellence, interdisciplinarity and internationality.

This event follows the Ordinary General Assembly (only for AUL members).
