Where do I belong, and why?” This question is at the heart of the trilingual performance, which offers profound insights into the life stories of people from the Minett region.
An intergenerational story of the French-Luxembourg border region is told through residents’ ties to places. Wandering through different times, origins, and viewpoints, the region is revealed to be an interplay of destinies and cultures. We meet Luxembourgers struggling against cultural homogenization, French activists who want to save their region from impoverishment, and ex-officers of the Russian White Guard. We are also confronted with the question whether the charming Mediterranean neighborhood in Dudelange should be called “Little Italy” or “Little Portugal”. The play is performed by professional actors and Minett residents, and created by an international team of artists and researchers from the University of Luxembourg. It is for everyone curious about real places but also about places of longing that exist only in the imagination.
The theater production is part of REMIX PLACE, a multidisciplinary research-art project aiming at generating a wide range of knowledge – scientific, aesthetic, and emotional – and to contribute to strengthening the appreciation of cross-border territory of Alzette-Belval by those who live there.
