Following the success of his first two exclusive masterclasses in the region, the MIT professor Bill Aulet, recipient of the Adolf F. Monosson Prize for Entrepreneurial Mentoring, was back in Luxembourg this spring for the third edition of a two-day masterclass on Disciplined Entrepreneurship (DE).
Over the two days, the DE masterclass, organised by the University of Luxembourg Incubator and Entrepreneurship Programme, covered 24 key steps of building successful high potential ventures which Bill identified based on his experience of supporting world-leading entrepreneurs at the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship. In the last two editions, Bill has successfully trained over 100 corporate leaders, startup founders, investors, university students, and professors with his personal methodology, and over 230 participants applied to attend this latest edition.
A reception was also organised on March 27 in the presence of the Rector of the University of Luxembourg Prof. Jens Kreisel and Thomas Barrett, United States Ambassador to Luxembourg, to welcome Prof. Bill Aulet to Luxembourg. The reception was attended by selected guests, investors entrepreneurs, mentors, and startups from the ecosystem. In his welcome, the Rector Prof. Jens Kreisel stressed that entrepreneurship is an important element to drive impact in the three focus research areas of the University – sustainability, medicine and health as well as digital transformation – and that only by joining hands and partnerships such as this one with MIT, will we be able to tackle the world’s greatest challenges.
The event was also attended by many researchers and faculty members of the University of Luxembourg. “It is extremely useful tool and there is a lot for me now to take away,” shares Prof. I would absolutely recommend it for other University spinoffs., full professor in Experimental polymer physics at the University who is about to start his own company. “Jan Lagerwall”
“In his role at MIT, Bill has a first-hand view of the emerging trends in the startup world, the challenges of the current times and the opportunities”, says Pranjul Shah, manager of the University of Luxembourg Incubator. “This masterclass is one of the many partnerships we have developed with MIT to expand the support for our students and startups ranging from the mentoring service to our Catalyst Innovation fellowships. For this edition of the DE masterclass, our partners from Norway, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Burkina Faso made their way to Luxembourg. The masterclass thus also offers a fantastic opportunity for our existing partners to learn from our initiatives.”
