Project outline

ESPON Contact Point (50%):

The overall objective of the ESPON Contact Point in Luxembourg is to inform policy makers, practitioners and the broad public about the research activities of the ESPON programme. This activity is undertaken towards key stakeholders in Luxembourg. The ESPON Contact Point in Luxembourg was established in March 2008 and the University of Luxembourg is responsible for its coordination.

MIMY (50%):

The H2020 project MIMY – EMpowerment through liquid Integration of Migrant Youth in vulnerable conditions – which evaluates the integration of young migrants and focuses on their empowerment. The project is coordinated by the University of Luxembourg (PI: Prof. Dr. Birte Nienaber). The project is composed of a multidisciplinary team including 12 European institutions.

Your Role

The research specialist will work at the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Birte Nienaber, he/she will:

  • Participate in the management of the ESPON activities to be undertaken in Luxembourg and on transnational, EU level
  • Be responsible for conducting the capitalisation and dissemination of ESPON research results (e.g. editing the website, newsletter and social media communication).
  • Support the coordination of the H2020 project MIMY
  • Pro-actively support the dissemination and communication strategies of the H2020 project
  • Assist the professor in the conception of project workshops, maintenance of project website and database, etc.

Your Profile
  • Master (or equivalent) in Geography, Spatial planning, European Studies, Cultural Studies or any other related field
  • Experience in the field of (European) spatial planning and migration
  • Experience in the field of communication would be a plus
  • Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team
  • Knowledge in Document Analysis and Reporting
  • Experience in the use of common computer software (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to establish contacts at national and international level
  • Good communication and drafting skills

As the candidate will have to deal within a multilingual context, he/she must be fluent in English and in German (written and spoken). Knowledge of French and Luxembourgish will be considered as an advantage.
