The study examined the views and experiences of preservice teachers on how inclusively they have been trained during their preservice teacher education. The qualitative case study involved interviews of 18 preservice teachers in the last semester of their programs. The major finding is that preservice teachers were not being trained adequately to gain the knowledge and skills to be able to teach diverse students and to work under diverse conditions. This finding has implications for practitioners and decision-makers on better preparing preservice teachers – through more inclusive teacher education programs – to become more inclusive and welcoming of diverse students in their future careers.
