“ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION IN THE BENELUX COUNTRIES:
RESEARCH, POLICY AND PRACTICES AT THE INTERSECTION OF EDUCATION AND
SOCIETAL TRANSFORMATION”
During this seminar, research contributions on Environmental and Sustainability Education (ESE) in the Benelux countries will be presented and discussed. Katrien Van Poeck (Ghent University), Arjen Wals (Wageningen University & Gothenburg University) and Ariane König (University of Luxembourg) edited a Special Issue on this topic for the journal ‘Environmental Education Research’. The collection assembles topical research from Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg thus presenting an overview of traditions and recent developments in ESE research, policy and practice in this specific regional context. All the same, it addresses a more general topic: the relation between education and societal transformation in the face of sustainability challenges.
The seminar is aimed at policymakers, practitioners and researchers. It strives to nurture a transdisciplinary dialogue between them by presenting state of the art scientific work, reflecting on its relevance and usefulness for policy and practice and identifying interesting pathways for future research.
A detailed program is available on the next page. The spoken language of the seminar will be English.
If you want to attend the seminar, please, send a mail to Marc Naessens (m.naessens@benelux.int).
After the seminar (at about 4 PM), it will be possible for the participants to join the Benelux conference “Learn to live in the city within the boundaries of the Earth”, organized in Brussels on the 22nd and 23rd of November: https://www.reseau-idee.be/benelux-2018/
