Bastian’s thesis abstract:
This dissertation investigates the innovation effects of three public policies with high political relevance and increasing scientific coverage in three essays. The first essay examines the role of including environmental selection criteria in public procurement tenders for the introduction of more environmentally friendly products, services, and processes. The implementation of competitive large-scale university funding programs and their heterogeneous effects on regional firms’ innovativeness is covered in the second essay. The third essay analyzes the liberalization of trade in foreign knowledge services and its relevance to the innovation activities of domestic firms.
