Dr. Frank Wisselink and Dominique Schneider will answer these questions in their talk: The Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence change value creation: Treasure Trove or Pandora\u2019s Box?<\/p><p>Another interesting aspect of AI is the infrastructure. What does it take, and how much does it cost, to build and maintain a high performance computing cluster? What this means for value creation is the focus of this talk.<\/p><p>The latest communication technologies, as well as novel sensors and actuators of the internet of things (IoT), enable artificial intelligence (AI). Yet there are many societal and economic questions to assess how future developments will materialize. The acceptance in society is crucial. Where do citizens think the application of AI makes sense? Which role do humans play? How do IoT and AI change the interaction with humans? How is sustainably value created \u2013 will parking in town be a sustainable application? Is the change in value creation a treasure trove? Alternatively, do the novel technologies open a Pandora\u2019s Box? Since: Incorrect application leads to loss of trust of the citizens. The value will be destroyed.<\/p><p>To solve these questions regarding the internet of things and AI a balanced strategy is required. The trust of customers is a key element of this. Ethical guidelines are essential to uphold this trust.<\/p><p>Speakers: Dr. Frank Wisselink &#038; Dominique Schneider, Detecon International<\/p><p><\/p><p><strong>Title:\u00a0High-Performance Computing and Big Data Analytics in Luxembourg: Overview and Challenges in the EuroHPC Horizon<\/strong><\/p><p>Accelerating modelling, simulation and analysis in the data deluge era requires the appropriate infrastructure (both hardware and software) at scale. The University of Luxembourg is active since 2007 to develop its own infrastructure and expertise in the HPC and BD domains. The current state of development will be briefly reviewed in the context of the national and European HPC strategy in which Luxembourg is starting to play a role.<\/p><p><strong>Valentin Plugaru<\/strong>, from Uni.lu, is an HPC R&#038;D specialist, part of the Parallel Computing and Optimisation Group led by Prof. Pascal Bouvry. His main role is that of Senior Architect for the University HPC platform, working tirelessly for its development, management and growth in order to enable and accelerate scientific research and innovation for national and international projects. His daily work consists of deep and hands-on involvement in all HPC projects &#8211; from strategic planning of new facilities to make them a reality for University researchers.
