The adoption of short-range radars for several industrial, consumer and in-cabin automotive applications require reliable system performance at small form factor, low-power and low-cost. Radar sensing has enabled several interactive human-machine interface such as human sensing and tracking for presence, occupancy, counting. Radars can provide ubiquitous sensing technology that can facilitate energy savings by controlling lighting, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning. In this talk, we outline how the traditional radar signal processing is being replaced or augmented with deep learning algorithms to enable better performance with smaller memory &#038; compute footprint.<\/p><p><strong>Short Bio<\/strong>: Avik Santra received his M.S. in signal processing from Indian Institute of Science, India and Ph.D. in electrical, electronics, and informatics from FAU University of Erlangen, Germany. He is currently heading the advanced AI team responsible for developing signal processing and machine learning algorithms and system solutions for radars and depth sensors at Infineon at Irvine, US. Earlier in his career, he has worked as system engineer at Broadcom and research engineer at Airbus. He is associate editor at IEEE Sensors Journal and Elsevier Machine Learning with Applications. He is co-author of two books on AI published at Artech and Wiley-IEEE, and has filed over 75 US\/EU patents and published over 55 research papers.
