The question that many are asking themselves today is how to apply this level of resilience to real-time computing scenarios, or other equally extreme use cases. SnT&#8217;s Prof. Marcus V\u00f6lp recently sat down with Paperjam to explain how his research is making real-time systems such as aeroplanes, self-driving cars, and financial services stronger against malicious attacks and technological errors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interview was published today as part of Paperjam\u2019s latest Grand Dossier, this installment focusing on Data &amp; Cloud. You can find it <a href=\"https:\/\/paperjam.lu\/article\/building-resilience-into-real-\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the article <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/snt\/people\/marcus_voelp\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. V\u00f6lp<\/a> explained how as head of the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/snt\/research\/critix\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">CritiX research group<\/a> he and his team are working on resilient modular and distributed computing, which allows systems to continue working even when individual computers fail. The challenge is deploying these systems in certain scenarios, like a driveless car. An IT outage in a driveless car could lead to a failure to recognise the road situation, leading to the system issuing potentially dangerous commands. This is one of the current projects that CritiX has with an industrial partner.
