As NGSO systems increasingly operate in the same Ku- and Ka-band frequencies as incumbent Geostationary Satellite Orbit (GSO) networks, ensuring their efficient coexistence has become a critical concern for satellite operators, regulators, and industry stakeholders.\n\nESA NGSO-Sense addresses this challenge through the development of an advanced spectrum sensing and interference monitoring platform capable of detecting, identifying, and characterising radio frequency emissions from NGSO satellite networks. The project combines a portable ground-terminal prototype, equipped with steerable Ku- and Ka-band antennas, with intelligent signal processing capabilities to measure radio frequency characteristics, identify interference events, and extract actionable information from collected observations.\n\nBy providing reliable measurement methodologies and enhanced situational awareness of the increasingly congested satellite spectrum environment, NGSO-Sense supports evidence-based regulatory decision-making and facilitates the sustainable coexistence of NGSO and GSO systems.
