Assoc. Prof Raphaël FRANK

Raphaël Frank is an Associate Professor and Chief Research Scientist at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust (SnT), where he heads the UBIX Research Group. He is part of the SnT management and serves as Director of the ATLAS IPBG Programme, as well as a member of the University Council.

His research interests include autonomous systems, cooperative systems, embodied AI, and physical AI. He has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed international conferences and journals. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and regularly serves on organising committees for international scientific conferences, as well as as an editor for special issue journals.

Since obtaining his PhD in 2010, he has held a range of research and management positions, progressing through the academic ranks from Research Associate (Postdoctoral Researcher) to Professor. Since 2018, he has been authorised to supervise PhD students and to lead large research projects as a Principal Investigator. He is also the co-founder and former Operations Director of Motion-S, the first technology spin-off of the University of Luxembourg, founded in 2014.

He holds a Master’s degree in Cryptography and Network Security from the University of Joseph Fourier in France, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Luxembourg. During his Ph.D. studies, he was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
